The Cook Islands SPCA looks after stray, abused and homeless animals here in Rarotonga. We are dedicated to improving animal welfare and educating people on best practice animal care.
We were established in 1997 and opened our first shelter site on 14 February 2015 on Wigmores Waterfall Rd, Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
We are a small team of dedicated volunteers who operate the SPCA Op Shop, the SPCA kennel site, weekly raffles, quizzes, garage sales, behind the scenes administration and policy making to name a few. We are also called out on a daily basis to inspect animals that the public are concerned about and transport animals to and from the vets that require veterinary attention.
Along with ongoing animal welfare we are currently focusing on a Desexing project to help keep the dog population under control.
The Cook Islands SPCA is a charity that relies solely on local sponsors and donations from tourists and the local community. We do not have dedicated funding or large marketing budgets but we do what we can to keep the animals of Rarotonga happy, healthy and well loved.
Please help this great cause and donate generously.
Meitaki Ma'ata, thank you for your support!
Dog of the week
Mia is a Female, approximately 5yr old Mixed Breed, with short legs
As an older dog, Mia has a quiet personality needing lots of love but as she is not high energy, doesn't require too much exercise.
She did have a trial adoption, but as she was not a barking guard dog, that didn't work out. She's a such a gentle loving girl.
Can you take Mia into your life and give her the home she deserves?
